I'M COMING HOME BY JESSE DAYTON

In late 2008, we asked Jesse to write a song for the Voices of a Grateful Nation CD series. Several weeks later when he brought us a great song and explained the inspiration behind it. While waiting for a flight in Los Angles, Jesse noticed an L.A. Times piece about Clovis, California, a city of 96,000 in the San Joaquin Valley. Evidently Clovis had the highest per capita combat death toll in the country . . . Proportionally, they had lost more native sons and daughters than any other city in America. With this sobering thought in mind, Jesse wrote, "I'm Coming Home," an uplifting counterbalance to the tremendous loss endured by the folks in Clovis.

The tune is an upbeat, country-rock arrangement that tells the story of one young man's adventures in Iraq and his triumphant return to his wife and child. The song, "I'm Coming Home" has been made into a music video and has been released nationally to celebrate the national release of the Voices CD Series. The video includes a Public Service Announcement by Jesse designed to raise awareness of the pressing challenges faced by our young troops returning home with Traumatic Brain Injuries and to support efforts made by Voices of a Grateful Nation and Soldiers' Angels on their behalf.
